Plamodel DIY 135mm Camera for dummies

by zybisko14 |
January 7th, 2010

Hello boys and girls! How was your Christmas celebrations? No? how about your new year celebration then? Did you manage to get drunk? They say a person is exceptionally creative when one is drunk. You should try taking pictures in that state, who knows what sort of pictures you might come out with. Heh. But seriously, don’t do it, it was meant as a joke.

That’s a really bad intro anyway. Ah, it has been a while since I posted anything, I am pretty sure I am about to be treated with a fried squid (that’s calamari for you sophisticated ones). The reason? I was away on vacation at Bali. :D

Well Adrian said we contributors were extremely handsome and pretty hardworking in contributing to his site, he decided to give us the Plamodel DIY Super Kengchau 135 Toy Camera each! Since this was meant as a Christmas gift, I decided to open it at Bali.

Like what Renee described earlier on one has to do a bit of reading on the manual to get the assembly right. I’d love to do some camwhoring while fixing it, but I was too lazy to set up my tripod and my wife was asleep anyway.

blackbird, fly preview

by zybisko14 |
November 13th, 2009

Hello I am zybisko14, and I am chosen as one of the slave contributor for this site, I volunteered because I wanted to try out all the cameras for free and run away shoot different photos using different cameras. I used to be a digital guy, shooting whatever that fancies me, but at the end of the day, the amount of digital junk I collect is actually a pain to go through. So I ventured into film, it has 2 advantages:

  1. Each shot is carefully considered, you don’t just shoot gung ho
  2. I have always liked the effect of film, it looks so original and sincere.
  3. I dig mechanical cameras, they are fuss free and basic
  4. I don’t know how to count

In overall, I have been trying to break the rules, you know the good old rule of 3rds, the leading lines. You know how it goes, LOL. But in truth I have been failing miserably to do so. So with luck I hope I can break all this using a toy camera. not the toy camera lah! The rules!

Anyway, I was saying, with toy cameras, they offer much more basic requirements. Introducing the blackbird fly,

A million reasons…

by adrian |
September 26th, 2009

…on why you should get a Golden Half today! but let us stick to TEN reasons instead.

Reason 1 – Half Frame madness~

One of my biggest pet peeves on film cameras is the amount of pictures you can take with just one roll of film. That would be at most 36 pictures. It sucks when you have to look for a new roll of film in the middle of a holiday or lug tonnes of film half way around the world. And let’s not mention to cost of processing and developing the film, shall we?

With a half frame camera you can double the amount of pictures you  take. 1 frame = 2 pictures, 36 exp = 72 shots, music to my ears. You can also create your own short story with your pictures side-by-side.

full frame? BooOoo!! Boring

half frame? YaaAaY!!

If you are feeling kiasu, you can ask the photo processing shop to process your half frame pictures as single frame and you will get instead 72 separated pictures for your 36 exp roll.

Reason 2 – the Golden Half does look good doesn’t it?

First in white then blue.

Golden Half, Golden Half Chelsea Maika Edition

white & blue

Now the whole band wagon is here. Wacky colours here I come.

gohall

wacky colours!~

Reason 3 – We are cool!

Did I just say we are cool? LOL. The *Click* Shop is always friendly and ready to help. Feel free to ask us anything and we’ll try to answer them for you. Don’t be shy, we don’t bite! Unless you want us too.

Furthermore, our prices are reasonable. Try looking at prices in overseas @_@. Also did I mention, FREE shipping?

Why else would you not get from us?

Reason 4 – It comes with a flash hotshoe

Flash what?!? Flash hotshoe. A flash hotshoe can fit flashes that has a hotshoe.

the thing below the flash is the hotshoe!

with a woctron mini-100

So now you can snap your party pictures at night or experiment with color flashes.

red planes?~

Reason 5 – Good things come in small packages

Small, durable and light. For guys, you can afford to drop it a few times (just a few ok?). For girls it’s small enough to fit in your handbags!

gohcmcup

sushi anyone?

Reason 6 – It’s simple as 1-2-3

It’s a hassle free load and shoot camera. Just load the film and start shooting! That’s it. It’s that simple, you don’t need to adjust focus, shutter speed or blablabla yadayadayada.

The camera is made to capture the moment. Spontaneous and quick, whip it out of your pocket and capture the moment. Don’t miss out another award winning picture moment!

But don’t forget to set the aperture! Just two setting, sunny & cloudy.

The only feature that is a must have in all cameras is the SHUTTER! You don’t need to have PHD degree to able to use it and you definitely not need 1000 setting, modes and features on your camera!

Reason 7 – Look Ma no batteries!

It’s a 100% mechanical camera. You wind the film forward and finish rolling back your film backwards using the POWER of your fingers! Remember those things sticking out of your hands? :-)

cause of global warming

Do your part to save the environment! Use less batteries.

Reason 8 – Value for your $$

For less than RM200, you can have this pocket wonder.

Reason 9 – Did I already say we are cool people?

In case you wasn’t paying attention, we are cool people! :-)

You will receive a one-to-one exchange for your golden half within the warranty period. Warranty is 6 months!

Reason 10 – Pictures pictures pictures

As with any camera, the reason you are buying it is for it’s pictures. You would want a camera that captures good pictures don’t you? Lemme tell you that this camera can REALLY take good pictures, it’s not just a looker or just a pretty paperweight.

Let us compare shall we? Top will be pictures from the Golden Half and bottom will be pictures from the diana+ MINI. Pictures are randomly lifted from Flickr.

Geez, this was a really long post! What about you? Do you have anything to add?

Anyways, go get this awesome camera today! Golden Half madness~

Digital Harinezumi

Finally it’s here, the camera of two worlds, Digital Harinezumi. It’s a hybrid between a digital camera and an analog camera. Hybrid between a still picture camera and a movie maker. It captures analog pictures into digital format. It captures old film camera styles in .avi. Truly a camera of two worlds.

“This tiny movie camera will inspire filmmakers from around the world, with its melancholic image quality. It also is the successor to the toy camera analog feel. The Digital Harinezumi is the camera that brings pleasure back to digital photography.” – Superheadz
