An application I just installed is the moreLomo app by More-Thing. The best thing about it is that it’s a free app! The latest version has an option to choose between the original photo or the ‘lomorised’ photo. In my opinion, it’s a pretty nifty app.

The Fuji Instax invasion is here at TheClickShop!

For those who don’t know already, I have the Choco one and I’ve never looked back since! It’s a very fun camera that I take around with me everywhere and there are so many oohs and aahs when friends or family see the photos that pop out from it. It’s light and very easy to use. The manual, albeit in Japanese, is very fuss-free and the images alone are able to assist in setting up the Fuji Instax. I know because I set mine up in less than 5 minutes.

So for those of you who are interested and are still thinking about whether the Instax is worth it, I tell you it is!

And from what I hear, there are only a few units available. Better be quick and grab it while you can.

How’s everyone doing? What did all of you get for Christmas?

Somebody (you know who you are!) read my wishlist and I am now a proud owner of the yellow UWS. Yes, be jealous, be very jealous. I’ll post up some photos of it soon.

Adrian, from The Click Shop, surprised me with a very unexpected gift - The Plamodel Camera Christmas Edition. I chose the red packaging although I’ve been told that essentially, it is the same camera inside and it comes in only one colour; black. Inside the packet, I found an instruction manual and the camera parts. It is very very important to make sure that you lose none of the parts. Before starting, I would recommend you give the manual a once over. Locate all parts mentioned in the manual. This can be done easily because the parts are numbered.

I expected it to be difficult but with the help of a friend, it took us about an hour, slightly more to complete the camera. It is quite gratifying to work on the camera, building it up from scratch. I learned that a lot of work is put into building a simple 35mm camera. I’ve got a new appreciation for film cameras now.

I’d recommend this camera to anyone who likes d.i.y and isn’t afraid of a challenge. It makes a great way to spend an afternoon with a friend too. I know this because that’s what I did.

So go ahead, don’t not buy it because you think it’s complicated. If I can complete it, just about anyone can.

1. Crumpler’s Industry Disgrace neck strap – dSLR cameras can weight a tonne and the neck strap could cut into the skin when taking photos for long periods of time. Not only is this neck strap comfy, it’s also very the gaya! There’s a particular one that’s got the camouflage design and I super the duper like it. [link]



2. The Ultra Wide and Slim - Have you seen TCS’ addition to the UWS collection? I’ve always wanted this camera but I’ve never gotten around to getting it. I scour Flickr a lot and I saw loads of fantastic photos taken with this little camera. Psst, my favourite colour is yellow.



3. Photojojo DIY Block Kit – This block kit makes the photos you take awesome-r. It makes for a fantastic gift as well as somethin’ to put on your shelf/table.. wherever you put your photos lah. [link]
4. Flickr Pro Account - because mine’s expiring in 2 days. Hehe.
5. Moo cards – because they’re cool. Nuff said.



6. Digital Photo Frame - so I can show off my art 24/7. My walls are begging for it!
7. More Fuji Instax Camera film - There’s something about the Fuji Instax camera that makes me love love love it. Nevermind that’s it’s the closest thing to Polaroid, I like how instantaneous it is. See a photo subject, click, photo. I’m down to my last box so, I wouldn’t mind more!
8. Creative Vado HD - it’s a pocket video camera. This would be to document my life. Looking back, there have definitely been moments where I wish I had it on video. So that I could experience it again and again.

What’s yours?

Hopefully, all you lomographers out there will feel refreshed and energized to work your Lomos. If you haven’t gotten your hands on a lomo yet, then, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!

So, in no particular order, this is why I love photography:

1) It allows me to express myself – Sometimes, thoughts and feelings aren’t so easily expressed in words so, photography does that for me.

2) It is my personal time machine – Whenever I look back on photos from my childhood, I am reminded of the good old days. It’s a really nice feeling to be able to reminisce on past happenings.

3) It is another creative outlet for me – Apart from taking photographs, I doodle a lot. I wouldn’t go so far as to call it ‘art’ although to me, it is the closest to art I will ever come to. I remember my art teacher in school getting very upset with me whenever it was art time. I am a really really lousy artist.

4) Limitless – for me, photography extends beyond the boundaries of what camera you use. I’ve got a dSLR, 2 toy cameras, an instant camera and of course, the camera on my phone. All of which, I would say, gets equal shoot time. I love film as much as I love digital and every camera gives a distinct character to my images.

5) Because it’s FUN – really.. need I say more? This is TCS. You’ve seen the cameras, you’ve seen the kind of images it produces and you’ve seen how cute and funky lookin’ all the cameras are.

So, ladies and gentlemen, those are my 5 reasons for lovin’ photography. What are yours?
